Jazzy Sundays – Robert Glasper & Hutson Percussion & Friends
OPENER: Hutson Percussion consist of two blood brothers, David and Darius, who were born with the gift of rhythm flowing through their veins. They are independent musicians, instructors, mentors, and upcoming producers in the Houston area. They’ve built a percussive arts company teaching, providing lessons and producing while still performing, traveling and becoming husbands and fathers. The brothers are on a mission to share the gifts they’ve been blessed with to the entire world.
HEADLINER: Robert Glasper’s career bridges musical and artistic genres. He boasts nine nominations and four Grammy wins across 11 categories, and an Emmy Award for his song for Ava DuVernay’s critically hailed documentary “13th” with Common and Karriem Riggins. His work and accolades bridge all aspects of the music business, from live touring to film scoring, composing and producing. Glasper is an artist at the heart of a moment – and a movement – to champion Black music, Black people, and the possibility of a better future.
