Biography

Valerie Coleman-Ferguson is a native Houstonian, who was appointed to the Board in April 2016.  Valerie serves as the Board Secretary for EPC.  Valerie has been a higher education attorney for twenty-three years, having served as Assistant General Counsel at Texas Southern University for three years. She currently is an Associate General Counsel for the University of Houston System having also served as the Compliance Officer for UH.  Prior to focusing her practice on higher education, she worked as a staff attorney with the Texas State Treasury and Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas. Valerie received her Bachelor of Social Work from Howard University in Washington D.C. and her law degree from Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
